Vogue Motorcycle

At work we have had on display this ‘thing’ on two wheels. I though it was a candy wrapped scooter. NOPE! its a ‘64 Velocette Vogue 200cc, a small trend in British motorcycles.

Meant to appeal to ‘Mr. Everyman’, the Vogue was supposed to be a luxurious step above basic transport. Fully enclosed in fiberglass bodywork, with windscreen, leg shields & later panniers (saddle bags) standard, it addressed a big problem for British riders: riding in the rain. All the bodywork helped shelter the rider & made the machine much easier to keep clean. But Americans care little for it, and the market for small, underpowered basic commuter bikes was shrinking rapidly. With all the bodywork & accouterments the Vogue was heavy, too heavy for the anemic 8hp 192cc watercooled SV (side valve) twin, the same unit that powered the 1950’s-era Velocette LE. Wide-open, they could barely make 60mph & cruising at anything more than about 50mph was out of the question.
Regardless of all this, the Velocette Vogue is really a beautiful piece of work. Finely crafted fiberglass panels fit nicely together to make a lovely, yet functional shape.

Its competition the Ariel Leader at 250cc outsold the Velocette Vogue, coming in also at better price.

Not gonna lie, I have dropped my mc a few times. (when i first got my honda home and i did not and still do not know how to kick start it and it fell over. that sucked) I was taught this technique by a very strong dude so I never imagined I could do it.. but HOLLA!! once again.. GIRLS can do IT ALL!!!!

N. Joined my dad and I for the install, then we all went for a little ride down Broadway. My dad continued home. N and I continued north to a pool party, BBQ and Christmas tree bon-fire in Lynn Valley. On the way over the bridge I ran out of gas, and after a bit of panic switched over to reserve and zoomed up the hill straight to the gas station!!!!
YA!! I love the starter button!!!

Last week I hitched a ride up to Salmon Arm to assist my good friend pull off the event Sturgis North in Canada.

Fell in love with HARLEY TOP FUEL bikes, we drank some heavy margarita with them and then I swear used the left over mix on the top fuel bikes. I even tasted the nitro after, made my tongue tingle with happiness!!

Other things to note:
- Served 5 hard boiled eggs to Dr. Hook DING!'
- Met the good guys of no.9 cycles in Langley, lots of hugs and kisses from those boys! 
- Worked 105.20 hours in 6 days!
- watched alot of shit go down!
- witness how cool under insane pressure my BFF is! Amazing!

maiden voyage

Thanks to these lovely ladies I just bit the bullet and we all went for a nice evening ride through North Vancouver along Marine Drive all the way to Gleneagles Park!!! One Harley, one Enduro and a little Honda... there were hugs and giggles happening at intersections after I stalled my bike and one of them jumped off thier bike to kick mine... ya I still cannot kick the bugger... but I did give it a bunch of solid effort (I am standing on one leg as I type - strength training). There were however NO high fives. nope.  I handled the curves like a champ and kept up to the leader of the pack.

10lbs trout

My brother caught a big dirty 10lbs rainbow trout in the Shuswap and last friday we had a nice BBQ  at the shop. It was the yummi'est juicyi'est and oili'est fish I had ever eaten. He marinated it simply with some lemon, terragon, sea salt, a bit of olive oil drizzled and wraped in tin foil. Yum!

hello new lover!

She is a 1976 Honda Cb 450 twin. I purchased her and knew right away, like a fool I had fallen in love all over again. I brought her home, put the licence plate on, my gloves, helmet (it matches!!) and .. the keys.. shit where are they... oh ya... choke, gas, clutch.... shit FUCK where is the starter button??? nope... really.. no.. shit its kick start only!!!!!!!!! FUCK I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO KICK START A MOTORCYCLE!!!!!!!!! okokokoko dont panic.. okoko you can do this... okoko oh shit.... you have seen it done a million times.... okokook.. no panic..... ok.... kickstand on.. check.. in neutral... ok.....

kick... oh so weak.. more force.. one two thre.. KICK!!!!! nothing.. shit.. ok... a few more times....
maybe If I stand on the seat to get more leverage ..... 1..2...3.. KICk... FUCK!!!!!! (the bike fell over!!!!) FUCK!!!!!! I lifted up the bike... (ya pure adrenalline and swearing like a trucker) by this time I had gatherd the locals in the back alley, old chinese grandma with a huge bag of empty's asking me If I had any cans.... the french old guy down the road telling me about his first motorcycle.... a few more kicks from me. Weak attempts this far since my leg is hurting and now my back from lifting the bike.  Sweat pouring down my face.... shit. oh! and I broke off a mirror. great.

I took a few pictures on hipstamatica and read the Clymers manual about how to install a start/stop button. Noticed a leak on the petcock seal.. maybe I can also take care of that this weekend, note to self: order a new seal/gasket..... check manual.


ok. saturday... I will kick it and start her and go for a rideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... yup!

Insured and on the road!!! Favorite moment of the day happened just before this shot when i first got her into 5th.... ohhh ... (pause) ......myyyyy it was the most beautiful experience in my life. I wish I knew how to eloquently describe with words this feeling, but i cant, it was perfect. Driving fast, opening her up and letting her go... i think my smile was exploding off my face!
